On 5-6 November, the kick-off meeting of the Renov-AID project was held in Velenje, offering an excellent opportunity to connect with the 3DIVERSE project, which shares similar challenges. The Renov-AID project focuses on developing a Slovenian “one-stop-shop” model, guiding citizens in the urban municipalities of Ljubljana, Kranj, and Velenje towards energy renovations.

The aim of the Renov-AID project is to accelerate energy renovations in Slovenia, thereby contributing to sustainable development, as the “one-stop-shop” will assist homeowners in more efficient renovations of their homes. Additionally, the project enables the exchange of valuable insights and experiences at the EU and Balkan levels, contributing to the broader renovation landscape. The project significantly supports the objectives of achieving climate neutrality in Slovenian cities, reducing energy poverty, and improving living conditions.

The MOVeNERGY (EIB ELENA) project was presented by the Municipality of Velenje. The project began in October this year and addresses key areas also tackled by the 3DIVERSE project. The initial phase of the ELENA MOVeNERGY project involves conducting energy audits, followed by feasibility studies, exploring public-private partnerships for buildings, and preparing project documentation. This project will fund comprehensive energy audits, investment documents, and project plans to support the implementation of the works.

As part of the 3DIVERSE project, KSSENA presented the main themes, approaches, and specific steps they are implementing to transform the existing district heating system. Komunalno podjetje Velenje KPV provided a detailed presentation of the overall system transformation strategy and shared their experiences in communicating with citizens, which is crucial for a just transition in the Savinja-Šalek region.

All three projects are aligned on key common points, making the exchange both important and beneficial for the further development of each project.
