Enhancements to local energy concepts, the workshop that our partner Laboratory of Energy Policy (UL)  participated in was organized within the LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE project, which is an integral project co-financed by the European LIFE Programme, the Climate Change Fund, and the partners; KSENNA, Jožef Stefan Institute Energy Efficiency center, Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Energy and Focus, Association for Sustainable Development.

The direction of the workshop was to encourage active stakeholder participation in upgrading the methodology for the development of Local Energy Concepts (LEC). The workshop provided an analysis of the current state of the art of LEC, the findings of the expert working group on their upgrading and suggestions for improvement, as well as experiences with stakeholder involvement in local energy planning.

Slovenia has 212 municipalities, which differ between larger and smaller. Each has its own LEC, and deciding how constructive it is prepared and implemented is up to them. The mandatory reporting is only done by half of them and there is no structured recording and data usage by the experts. This is why the Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Energy is working on a holistic, more efficient, transparent, and usable update of the LEC. They are developing a digitalized system and a uniform reporting platform while adjusting the content itself to the size of the municipalities.

Our partner Laboratory of Energy Policy (UL) presented an example of local best practice, the first energy community in Luče as a Compile pilot site in Slovenia.
