The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, proudly presented the 3DIVERSE project and its innovative Rapid Network Analysis Tool at the 1st African edition of the SDEWES (Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems) Conference, held in Morocco.

This landmark event marks the expansion of the globally recognized SDEWES series to the African continent.

Marko Keber represented the UL FS team and shared insights from their recent work on district heating and cooling systems. Their presentation, part of a dedicated session on District Heating and Cooling, focused on a reduced-order model designed for analyzing complex thermal networks with limited performance data.

A key highlight was the case study of the district heating system in Velenje, Slovenia. The discussion centered on lessons learned during the analysis and how these findings could be adapted for district cooling applications, particularly in regions with growing cooling demands.

The presented tool enables a quick and reliable assessment of network performance and can support planning and optimization efforts in cities pursuing decarbonized and resilient thermal systems.

The conference paper, titled “A Reduced-order Model for the Analysis of Complex District Heating and Cooling Systems with Limited Thermal Performance Data”, will be published in the official SDEWES proceedings.
